OU Music Student leads the Blues and Royals

David Hammond is an OU music research student and Director of Music of The Band of The Blues and Royals based in Windsor.

The Band of The Blues and Royals is one of two mounted bands and is part of the Corps of Army Music. It supplies music in both mounted and non mounted formats for State ceremonial events, military events and the civilian market as required

David is leading the Household Cavalry Band on parade for the Queen’s birthday Parade on Saturday 14th June.

Although The Queen was born on 21 April, the Sovereign’s birthday is officially celebrated by this ceremony of Trooping the Colour, learn more here.

Trooping the Colour is carried out by fully trained and operational troops from the Household Division (Foot Guards and Household Cavalry) on Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall, watched by members of the Royal Family, invited guests and members of the public.
