March Assessment & Feedback SIG meeting

openTEL is pleased to announce this month’s Assessment & Feedback Special Interest Group will have a presentation by Chris Edwards about the EU funded TeSLA project.

Embedding e-authentication of online assessment – the TeSLA project

Chris Edwards

Abstract: TeSLA is a large EU Commission funded Horizon project with 18 partners. Over the last 3 years it has sought to develop and pilot a system to ensure trust-based authentication & authorship in e-assessment. This presentation will briefly describe the project and its outcomes, from the initial small scale proof of concept trials to the large scale final study with several thousand students. It will take a reflective view of the project, the potential for embedding e-authentication within the VLE and the opportunities that this may afford.

Bio: Chris Edwards is a lecturer in the Institute of Educational Technology, LTIA, WELS. He chairs the masters module, Openness and innovation in e-learning, and helps run the Online and Distance Education masters programme. His research centres around three areas: modelling student study pathways with graph databases to gain an advantage in understanding student experience; as a researcher on TeSLA, a large EU funded Project with 18 partner organisations, exploring the e-authentication of students in online assessment; empowering learners through enhancing their self-reflective approaches – currently within language learning.
