Steve Walker has a paper accepted in the Journal of Educational Technology and Society, co-authored with Linda Creanor from Glasgow Caledonian University.
The STIN in the tale: a socio-technical interaction perspective on networked learning
The paper takes one of Rob Kling’s ideas, on sociotechnical networks, and demonstrates how it might help us to think about learning technologies.
We now have a page listing relevant journals (see under Pages in the navigation panel on the right).
Each journal title links to its public web page. For each journal, there is also a link to the its entry in the Open University’s Open Research Online archive (ORO). This will show you articles published in the journal by OU staff.
OU members of staff and students will be able to gain access to the contents of journals via the OU Library’s eJournals facility.
Jon and Karen went to the Research Day held by the OU’s Centre for Education and Educational Technology (CREET). 90 people attended, and topics covered were:
- the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) results
- the future Research Excellence Framework (REF)
- planning and managing research
- possible research themes
The day included a ‘speed-dating’ activity to get to know other people and find out about each others’ research. There were also activities to write dummy ‘press releases’ on research themes.
In May CREET will be holding a workshop on ‘improving your publications’.
