The Open University’s Widening Participation Conference, 27-28 April 2016 has a dedicated theme on moving from widening access to widening success.
The theme of access to success focusses on transitions into HE, particularly from Access courses, and the experience of these students within a University setting. However, the term access can be more broadly interpreted to include any students who come into HE study with low entry qualifications or who face other issues which may affect their progress. Research within this theme can therefore include studies on:
- the provision of Access curricula
- the experience and progress of Access students or those with low entry qualifications into HE
- the support provided to Access students
- the evidence of the effect of that support on the educational outcomes of Access students
A call for research and practice papers and posters provides further detail of how to respond. We welcome submissions from early career researchers and practitioners, as well as more established professionals. The deadline for this call is the 27th November 2015.
