Open Management International (OMI)

OMI was established in 1997 as a provider of professional management education. It provides its own open/distance learning professional management development programmes for junior managers.

The owner of OMI is Miroslav Kucka, MSc, MBA. The organisation is developing and growing with the help and expertise of experienced tutors who have taught Open University Business School courses in the Slovak and Czech Republics under a previous partnership arrangement. Miroslav Kucka is a member of “famous forty‘”, the first group of students in (former) Czechoslovakia, when the first partnership in the region started in 1990. He has been intensively involved in OUBS activities in former Czechoslovakia during the period of the previous partnership.

The Project

The educational partnership between The Open University and OMI was established in 2007 for the presentation of Open University Business School (OUBS) management programmes.OMI presents the OUBS Professional Certificate and Diploma in Management programmes, which are translated into both the Czech and Slovak languages, taught by their locally appointed part-time tutors.

The Aim

  • To help managers and organisations develop their management competencies by providing high quality management development programmes with an international reputation
  • To help tutors to develop their skills and abilities by providing a high standard tutor development programme
  • To help Open University Business School develop their organisational abilities to provide high quality management development programmes in the Slovak and Czech Republics.
