Career service

Career Farm is a career coaching and information company, who work with many of the leading business schools worldwide, delivering career services, information products and recruitment services. Career Farm coaches have extensive experience in both MBA and excutive level recruitment and hold internationally recognised qualifications in career coaching and guidance. They are supported by a team of researchers drawn from blue-chip information management and head-hunting environments.

Workmaze provide recruitment guides from the top 100 Global MBA Recruiting Companies (Updated monthly).

1. Monthly webinars (free and exclusively for OU Business School alumni), provided in partnership with Career Farm.

The Open University Business School is providing a monthly webinar in partnership with Career Farm, on career development issues throughout 2013. The subjects have been requested by the community.  Please contact Janet Barker with your suggestions for future career topics.

2. Recruitment guides (free access to OU Business School alumni)

For each company listed, Workmaze provides: Up-to-date company contact information, names of the key recruitment contacts, details of any MBA recruitment programmes, deadlines and methods of application and details of international recruitment opportunities.  The guides are searchable and should be used in conjunction with the first webinar, How to work with Headhunters, as this explains how search and selection companies operate and how to get the best from them.

Where Workmaze is made aware of deadlines that fall before the publication dates of May and October, this information will be sent to the alumni office and we will keep you updated on this page.

3. Discounted services for OU Business School Alumni from Career Farm

Career Development Coaching delivered by The Career Farm Ltd

We offer 2 programmes and single consultations if required.

  • Career Assessment Programme - Includes assessment of career to date and coaching on aspirations, skills, interests, values and preferences. The programme includes three forty-minute telephone consultations, preparation work, email support between calls and an initial half-hour introductory session. We also offer an MBTI personality questionnaire, which is included in the fee if it is required. Normal fee: £395.00 (inc VAT). OU alumni fee: £355.00 (inc VAT).
  • Getting interviews programme - Includes advice on producing a CV and covering letter specifically tailored to the targeted job or industry, interview practice and feedback. The programme includes three forty-minute telephone consultations, preparation work, email support between calls and an initial half-hour introductory session. Normal fee: £395.00 (inc VAT). OU alumni fee: £355.00 (inc VAT).
  • Single Consultation and CV preparation. A career coach will work with you on a one-on-one basis to give you advice and support specifically tailored to your situation. Normal fee for a forty-minute consultation: £135.00 (inc VAT). OU alumni fee: £120.00 (inc VAT). This includes any materials, preparation work and introductory session.

Please note that The Career Farm is not a recruitment agency so we don't find you a job or send your CV anywhere. Your details (including your CV will be deleted once we have completed working with you). Please note all coaching is undertaken with the highest levels of confidentiality. All our career coaches are qualified coaches with a background in executive level career coaching.

To match you with a coach we ask our prospective clients to fill in the attached form. We offer a complimentary 20 minute getting to know you' session before you commit to understand if coaching is right for you. The fees are for telephone coaching but we do offer face to face coaching if possible although there may be additional fees charged (for travel time or booking a meeting room) but this will be discussed with you before you decide to engage us.
