Digital Entrepreneurship Workshop

The Open University Business School has received funding from the NEMODE RC-UK funded network (New Economic Models in the Digital Economy) to host a workshop to explore current and future research in the field of digital entrepreneurship.

Format of the workshop:
In the morning session delegates will hear from entrepreneurs and academics undertaking research in the field of digital entrepreneurship. In the afternoon, delegates will be split into two or three breakout groups based on common research interests. Here they will have an opportunity to outline their own research work with a view to identifying complementary research and identifying a future research agenda.

Aims of the workshop:

  • Identify current research being undertaken in the area of digital entrepreneurship and discuss areas of overlap and synergy
  • Explore unique characteristics of digital entrepreneurship compared to other forms of entrepreneurship
  • Identify gaps in the current research base and future developments in digital entrepreneurship/digital technologies that will require research in the future
  • Scope a possible future research agenda
  • Identify and discuss possible collaborations for publication and research grant bidding

Likely areas for discussion include, but are not limited to:

  • New business models of digital enterprises
  • Platforms and open innovation
  • Growth and scalability of digital enterprises
  • Widening participation in digital enterprises - gender, age, background
  • International perspectives of digital entrepreneurship
  • Supporting and developing digital entrepreneurs
  • Corporate digital entrepreneurship/intrapreneurship
