The latest figures from the Office of National Statistics showed that in 2010:
· 5.5% of heterosexual marriages ended in divorce after four years
· 2.5% of a total of 42,778 civil partnerships in the same period were dissolved
· 44% of civil partnerships are entered into by women, but they file for 62% of dissolutions
The ICAEW reports that :
· The number of UK businesses fell by nearly 20,000 (0.9 per cent) to 2.08 million in the year to March 2011
· There was a reduction in both sole proprietors and partnerships, while corporate businesses increased by 0.6 per cent
· All regions except London and Scotland saw a fall in the number of businesses
