Clare has worked in a range of voluntary and public sector organisations, in roles covering human rights advocacy, anthropological fieldwork, environmental campaigning, project management and business administration. Underlying this diversity of work is her interest in what motivates people to participate in or to resist action, and how perceptions and definitions of social justice are developed.
She has a Masters in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics and in European Environmental Policy from Lancaster University.
Her qualitative research at the OU will explore notions of silence and voice: how and why project participants stay silent about concerns, and why they choose certain times and certain people for the breaking of this silence.
