Biography
My main research activities focus on projects exploring the application and development of online retailing and e-marketing. I had a successful commercial career in retail management before becoming an academic in 1998. Since then I have been working on projects aiming to advance research in the field of digital marketing and online retail management. In particular, I have published on the factors affecting the uptake of online retailing and e-commerce strategy development. My work on these topics has been published in national and international journals e.g. Journal of Business Research, European Journal of Marketing, International Journal of Retail Distribution and Management, Internet Research, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services. Additionally my work has formed the basis for chapters in textbooks and articles in practitioner journals.
I am currently involved with several PhD supervisions focusing on strategic issues affecting Internet usage in both business-to-consumer and business-to-business markets.
I was an academic advisor for the landmark series by the BBC's Money Programme looking at the impact of the Virtual Revolution on business and society.
