Biography

Jane is a qualified accountant (Chartered Association of Certified Accountants) and MBA graduate and spent many years as a senior manager in the UK financial services sector, mainly in wholesale and investment banking in the City of London, before moving into financial training and lecturing.

Jane is a qualified higher education teacher, with a Doctorate in Education, an MA in Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has been an assessor and examiner for professional accounting bodies. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Jane's teaching interests are in accountancy, financial services and financial strategy.

Her research interests are social theories of learning in higher education and the effect of the business school ‘community of practice’ on student identity development, as well as the impact of teacher-student interaction (cognitive apprenticeship) in accountancy teaching and learning.
