Biography
Before joining The Open University, Fatima's worked in banking and finance for the National Bank of Pakistan and other large financial institutions in Pakistan.
She completed her Masters of Commerce with a specialization in the area of finance from the University of the Punjab, Pakistan. Her background in the banking sector, coupled with an academic degree in the field of finance invoked her to understand the mechanisms of corporate governance with relevance to financial institutions in Pakistan.
Current research
Impact of Corporate Governance Regulations on the Performance of Financial Institutions
Fatima is investigating the impacts of introduction of corporate governance regulations in the financial institutions of Pakistan. The study will involve analyses of the stated regulations in the cultural and political context of Pakistan, and will also involve a comparison of these regulations with corporate governance arrangements in the UK.
