Biography

Ian joined The Open University in September 2009 and manages Understanding law (W200) on a national basis.

Ian graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1998 with a degree in Political Science before completing the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course. He then worked at the law firm Addleshaw Goddard for 5 years, working as a solicitor in the private client department after qualification, specialising in wills, probate and estate planning. Prior to joining The Open University he worked as a lecturer and manager for 4 years at BPP on the Legal Practice Course. Most of his teaching related to property and private client law at the same time as managing their part time evening and weekend courses. Ian has been appointed as an external examiner for the Legal Practice Course and will be assigned to an institution in March 2010. He is also still an active member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners and the Law Society Probate Section.
