He gained a BSc in Economic Sciences and Business Administration and an MBA at the University of Huddersfield. His Master of Research at the Open University Business School was a pilot study for his current PhD research.
Tamim is an active member in the academic community. He is an affiliate of the Strategy as Practice international network, and a forum coordinator at the sap-in.org website. He is a member of the European Group for Organisational Study (EGOS), the British Academy of Management (BAM) and the Academy of Management (AoM). Tamim is also the student representative at the Research and Enterprise Advisory Group at the Open University Business School.
Tamim’s current research project emerged from his own managerial experience swinging between professional and academic settings. Indeed, Tamim was faced with a dilemma: how can one link the nitty-gritty, daily, routine, mundane, on-the-spot actions, decisions and instructions of first-line management with the overall organisational aims and aspirations?
Adopting a strong structuration theory (Stones, 2005), Tamim will be investigating the day-to-day practices of retail store managers and exploring links between these practices, at the micro level, and the organisational strategy, at the macro level. His research will be addressing the absence of first-line managers from the strategic management literature, and testing the applicability of strong structuration theory approach to study strategizing.
