Research

Research is at the heart of The Open University Business School, underpinning all our activities from teaching to consultancy, advisory and policy work. Our mission is to undertake user-focused research in the fields of business, management and law that is intellectually leading and meets international standards of excellence. We pursue research that involves extensive engagement with professional practice in business, management and law and offers wider benefits to society. Our research has enabled the School to pioneer new areas of and approaches to management education including our internationally recognised approach to practice based professional learning and the use of digital media such as our participation in the very successful iTunes U.

Research activity in the School focuses on three research centres:

• Innovation in Teaching and Learning (InTEL)
• International Management Practice
• Responsibility and regulation (R&R)

The School also has a vibrant and growing Research Degrees Programme. The School is also networked through participation in three collaborative Research Centres:

• Centre for Innovation, Knowledge and Development
• Centre for Research into Information, Surveillance and Privacy
• Institute for Social Marketing
