Distance learning and management education - developments and prospects in the UK

Abstract

Distance education is a loose idea encompassing a range of techniques and approaches. In practice, but not in principle, it is closely associated with the idea of open learning. This paper reviews the diffusion of distance learning methods into management education in the United Kingdom and considers some of the issues associated with them. It considers the role that distance learning methods are likely to play in management education in the future, and makes some comparisons with developments in Canada.
