Abstract
The article reports on the legal standards for health professionals. Former lord chief justice Lord Woolf mentions that focusing on law is insufficient, and ethical and legal principles must support professional practice. If the ethical standards are to become an important part of healthcare practice, the "Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics for Nurses and Midwives" will be effective in terms of following the law.
