This paper presents preliminary results from an on-going investigation designed to explore success factors in such implementations. Based on a literature review of factors affecting ERP implementations, a preliminary model of ex-ante antecedents of ERP implementation performance is proposed. This model is supported by a survey of SAP users in Latin America and Spain with 91 valid responses. The data analysis confirms three proposed ERP implementation contribution constructs: contribution of the ERP implementation to economic, strategic and supply-chain business objectives. The data analysis also confirmed four groups of construct and variables, those of Internal Experience, External Experience, Coordination Mechanisms and Implementation Strategies. Based on this, plus a group of moderating or control variables, ten specific propositions for exploration for further research of ERP implementation success factors have been drawn. These are currently undergoing a process of statistical validation.
