Law student testimonial

Video of an acceptance speech from Neil Andrews at the 2012 Student of the year awards. He won the award for Law Student of the Year'.

(Edited transcript of the interview)

Firstly, I'd like to thank The Open University for allowing me to be here today. I was properly thrilled to win law student of the year, and receiving this award is an amazing honour for me, recognition of a fair amount of blood, sweat, and yes, sometimes tears. Not too much blood. But it's one that I'm very proud of. When I set out in 06, I really doubted that I would finish, let alone win an award of this nature. It's been a remarkable experience, and gaining my degree has been without doubt one of the most satisfying things I've ever done. However, like many students I wouldn't be here without the help of my family and particularly my wife Una for not only being there for me but looking after our two young children Olivia and Will, allowing me to work or revise. Or indeed the fantastic support of the tutors, again without whom none of this would have been possible. So I would like to reiterate my sincere gratitude to the OU and the college of law for providing the opportunity to study for the LLB on terms that I can incorporate into my life, working fully time, and the exceptional way that it's delivered and written. I'm very proud of my achievement, fulfilling a long held ambition, and I feel very privileged to win this award. So thank you very much once again. Thank you.
