Looking to expand your organisation’s digital talent pool?

CodingSkills+ by The Open University has launched in Scotland and if your organisation is planning to hire for software development, data analysis or related roles, it opens up an additional talent pool for you. Under the scheme, 100 unemployed or low-income adults are learning key software development skills that will boost their employment prospects and help plug skills gaps for Scottish employers.

The 13-week programme has been designed with both participants and employers in mind. Participants, who include those who have been made redundant or furloughed as a result of Covid-19, will be given careers and employability support during the programme, as well as learning new technical skills. At the same time, the scheme gives organisations across Scotland the opportunity to grow and diversify their talent pool in a skills area that is in high demand and short supply.

Having now recruited our participants on the basis of their aptitude, attitude and drive to succeed, the programme is underway and due to finish at the end of March 2020.

If you are interested in considering participants for roles in your organisation, or if you are able to donate some of your time to help participants understand more about digital job roles/the industry, please get in touch using the form below.

The Open University can also continue to work with employers to develop any new talent you are onboarding through flexible undergraduate provision or the fully funded Graduate Apprenticeship in Software Development (next cohort starts in Autumn 2021) and CodingSkills+ could represent a pre-employment training programme leading onto the Graduate Apprenticeship.
