Level 6 Certificate in Career Leadership Pathway

Who is it for?

To achieve this qualification, a three-unit pathway which leads to the CDI certificate qualification, you will be managing career development work in an educational institution or work based training organisation.  Successful completion of these units will be accredited by OCR.  You will need to be a member of the CDI and you can then apply to the CDI to be awarded the Certificate in Career Leadership. If you hold a full graduate or post graduate teaching qualification already successful completion of this qualification meets the qualification requirement for the UK Register or Career Development Professionals.

What topics does the qualification cover?

  • Lead and Manage Career Development Work in an Organisation aims to develop your critical understanding of the leadership and management of career development work and requires you to evidence how you lead and manage career development work in your organisation.
  • Continuously Improve Career Development Work in an Organisation aims to develop your understanding of the processes or reviewing, evaluating and developing career development work and to apply these in your organisation.
  • Plan and Design Career Related Learning Programmes aims to develop your critical understanding of how to plan and design a career related learning programme and for you to evidence your planning, design and evaluation of career related programmes in your organisation.

Programme structure

You will provide evidence of your work practice, including completing assignments, case studies, written accounts and providing work products. Evidence is uploaded to an e-portfolio which is available 24/7 on computers, tablets and mobile devices.

An Open University assessor will observe work-based practice on at least one occasion, assess evidence uploaded to the e-portfolio and provide developmental feedback.

You will have access through VQLearner Home to online resources specific to their qualification and links to suggested further study with The Open University.

Support will be provided throughout the qualification by the VQAC Learner Support Team.
