Osteopathic Development Group
The Osteopathic Development Group (ODG) is a collaborative partnership between the leading organisations in the UK osteopathic profession.
The organisation’s need
The ODG wanted to support the development of the leadership skills of osteopaths, both for the benefit of individual practitioners and the profession as a whole.
The Open University’s solution
The Open University worked with the ODG to create a leadership programme that is designed and customised specifically for the needs of the osteopathic profession.
lt takes the form of two one-day workshops (one at the start and one at the end of the programme), a 25-hour online learning module and a supported, work-based project led by an Open University academic.
In light of the popularity of the initial offering, there are plans to run the programme annually for at least three years.
It is hoped that the continuing improvement of leadership skills will have a positive long-term impact on the provision of osteopathy throughout the UK.
With a customised leadership programme that is profession-specific, UK osteopaths are now extremely well positioned to improve their personal leadership, patient care and industry standards for years to come.
From the minute we started talking to the team at The Open University they really ‘got’ what we were trying to do, and provided the staff and resources we needed to develop and deliver a really excellent programme.
