This activity will help you identify how your study activities relate to the skills that employers want. It will only take you a few minutes.

At the end, you will appreciate how your everyday activities correspond with employability skills. You can then use these real examples when

  • completing an application
  • attending an interview or
  • preparing for an appraisal.

It is better to provide an example when you state that you have a particular skill. You could say "I have demonstrated written communications skills" ...... rather than just "I have excellent communication skills."

You will have the opportunity to do this once you have completed the initial stage of the activity.

What to do

Think about how each study activity given below relates to some of the listed employability skills. Tick as many of the skills as you feel relate to the study activity (e.g. writing an assignment, report or essay is an example of written communication, but it also might demonstrate problem solving).

Study activity Skill
Written communication (info) Team working (info) Initiative (info) Problem solving (info)
