The CEPSAR Visitors Scheme
will fund expenses for visitors that wish to develop collaborative research programmes with CEPSAR staff. Visits should be of a substantial period (at least four weeks) and the projects should align with CEPSAR and University strategic research objectives. Bids will be developed in collaboration with CEPSAR researchers who should be contacted in the first instance. The visitor will be hosted by more than one member of CEPSAR and will also be expected to give a seminar suitable for all CEPSAR members. The objectives of the visit must have clear benefits to CEPSAR beyond simply supporting an individual’s research portfolio: collaborative publications with CEPSAR researchers, joint bids for research funding for example. Visitors should be of high standing for their career stage although we would particularly like to attract those who might be described as ‘rising stars’ in order to develop positive relationships between CEPSAR and leading scientists of the future.

Each award will be limited to £5000 as a contribution to transport costs and domestic expenses – note that this scheme will not fund any laboratory expenditure or other bench fees and it cannot be used for visitor salary costs. However, in special circumstances (i.e. status of the visitor, duration of the visit) additional funds could be made available.

Bids should comprise the name, status and home institution of the visitor, a one page CV with an indication of their recent research outputs and measures of esteem together with ~500 words on the aims and objectives of the proposed visit and how CEPSAR will benefit. There will be no set deadlines, but each proposal will be considered by the Director and the Directorate of CEPSAR.
