Easing the transition from HNC and HND to a degree

Here at The Open University in Scotland we have a hugely successful record of helping people who’ve studied in college build on their qualifications and go on to study at university level. Over 3,000 students with a college background are working to turn their HNC, HND or SVQ qualifications into a degree with The Open University in Scotland.

We’re keen to work with colleges right across Scotland to help students to progress, and have developed specific pathways for students who want to build on their HNC, HND or SVQs with the following colleges:

 

Adam Smith College, Dumfries & Galloway College, Motherwell College, Reid Kerr College and South Lanarkshire College now offer an official Open University ‘Learning Space’. The ‘Learning Space’ facility gives Open University students and staff across the Fife, Dumfries and Galloway, Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire areas access to a range of support and study facilities within each college. This includes library services, IT and study facilities, social spaces where OU students can get together and information about OU study.

Going forward we expect to continue developing further college partnerships.

If you don’t already have an HNC, HND or SVQ qualification, you’ll still be welcome on the majority of our degree courses. Around 40% of our students don’t already have Higher Education qualifications when they join us.
