SPN and ACTION on ACCESS CONFERENCE - Re-thinking the tertiary system: The future of learning and work, 21 November 2016, London

The Social Partnerships Network and Action on Access joined forces to organise this one-day conference, the programme of which included:

  • Keynotes from speakers including Angela Rayner MP (Shadow Secretary of State for Education)David Hughes (Chief Executive, Association of Colleges), Ruth Spellman (Chief Executive, Workers' Educational Association), Rob Humphreys (Director, The Open University in Wales) and Tony Wilson (Director of Policy and Research, Learning and Work Institute).
  • Topical workshops on subjects such as ApprenticeshipsThe role of colleges in technical and professional education; What learners want: Putting learners at the heart of Area Reviews.
  • A panel discussion with employers including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn, the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and Shoosmiths LLP.  

At the event we launched the new online resources produced as part of the OU-led National Networks for Collaborative Outreach (NNCO) project, including the PEARL website and a new suite of six free online courses.
