The walk is about 6 miles (9.7 km) in length. There is a car park at either end, and the easiest arrangement for getting back from the walk is to use two cars and leave one near the end, in the Start Point car park. The only alternative is to arrange for a taxi to collect you at Start Point – there is no public transport. For most of the way the walk follows the South West Coast footpath, through an area designated for its outstanding natural beauty.

For a healthy person wearing sturdy footwear, most of the going is easy, with slightly more demanding uphill stretches. After rain the paths can be very slippery, so take care. Be prepared for rain, even when the sun is shining at the start of the walk! Food and drink can be bought in the villages of Torcross and Beesands along the way, but take plenty of water with you.
