Mode of study

Some of this module’s study materials are online. Online materials are composed of pages of text with images and 6 audio clips ranging from 10-16 minutes (all with transcripts). Online materials also include links to external resources, online forums and online tutorial rooms. Printed materials are provided for some module content with the exception of the module guide.

Tuition strategy

This module provides face-to-face day schools. Each face-to-face day school offers an online alternative. Although not compulsory, attendance at day schools/online alternatives will help you consolidate your learning.

Working with others

You will be encouraged to work with other students at the day schools/online alternatives and to interact with others on the Tutor Group Forum.

Diagrams and other visual content

The study materials contain some diagrams and photographs. Reading and interpreting these are an important part of the study of this module.

Finding information

You may be required to search for, and make use of, third party material online and this can be used as part of the assessment. Alternatives for assessed research material can be provided to enable you to meet the Learning Outcomes of the module.

Assessment

This module has three Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs), which must be submitted online via the OU electronic TMA system and an Exam that must be taken at an exam centre.

Feedback

You will receive feedback from your tutor on your submitted Tutor-Marked Assignments (TMAs). This will help you to reflect on your TMA performance. You should refer to it to help you prepare for your next assignment.

Schedule

All University modules are structured according to a set timetable and you will need time-management skills to keep your studies on track. You will be supported in developing these skills.
