Do I need any qualifications?

You don’t need any qualifications to study the majority of our courses, that’s what makes us unique. If you’ve got the motivation to study, we’ll give you the opportunity.

If you’ve already got some qualifications, such as an HNC or HND you may be able to count this towards your degree studies through credit transfer.

What do I need to get started?

There are no minimum entry requirements - a small number of specific courses (e.g. nursing) require you to be in relevant paid or voluntary employment, but only when essential to the course. But what you will need is:

  • A computer and internet access - you could receive financial help to buy a computer depending on where you live and how much you earn.
  • A good grasp of the English language - you can get help and guidance on whether you meet this standard here.

Am I ready to study at this level?

If you haven’t studied in a while, or you’re lacking confidence you could start your studies with an Access module. These are designed to:

  • improve your confidence
  • give you a taste of something you may want to study in more detail
  • help you brush up on your study skills.

Can I use my previous study?

If you’ve studied before, you may be able to transfer those credits towards your degree. This includes your HNC or HND, completed degree modules, or other equivalent qualifications.

It doesn’t have to be recent study, in some cases, it could be up to 16 years old, and it’s free to apply for credit transfer.

Originally, I wasn’t sure if it was for me or not. I wanted to make sure that I would be getting the best education possible. The Open University proved to be the light at the end of the dark tunnel for me. I transferred credits from my previous course to my OU degree, and I got 90 credits for it– that’s almost a full year.
