Teaching and assessment
Support from your tutor
You will have a tutor who will help you with the study material and who will mark and comment on your written work. EZL132 does not have any face-to-face tutorial sessions, but you can ask your tutor for advice and guidance. If you are new to the OU, you will find that your tutor will be particularly concerned to help you with your study methods.
Contact our Student Registration & Enquiry Service if you want to know more about study with The Open University before you register.
The assessment details for this module can be found in the facts box above.
You will be expected to submit your tutor-marked assignments (TMAs) online through the eTMA system unless there are some difficulties which prevent you from doing so. In these circumstances, you must negotiate with your tutor to get their agreement to submit your assignment on paper.
The end-of-module assessment (EMA) must be submitted online. The TMAs are not compulsory and your marks for them will not contribute to your grade for the module, which will depend solely on the EMA. However, they will be very useful in helping you to judge how you are doing with the module, and confirm that you are on track to complete the EMA successfully and pass the module.
In the TMAs, you will be given choices of study material to cover, to enable you to concentrate on the material that is new to you. The EMA, however, will cover the module as a whole. You will be given more detailed information when you begin the module.
The details given here are for the module that starts in February 2015 when it will be available for the last time.
As a student of The Open University, you should be aware of the content of the Module Regulations and the Student Regulations which are available on our Essential documents website.
