Summary

Working with young people in practice

This work-based learning course will help you develop your skills and understanding in working with young people aged 13-19, so that you can support their informal learning. It focuses on three main themes: developing relationships with young people; supporting groups of young people; and developing community engagement with young people.

Is this course right for me?

You will be building on theories about working with young people introduced in E131, and putting these ideas into practice. We suggest that you complete E131 before studying E118.

You need to be working with young people for a minimum of five hours a week in a suitable setting. For further details of these requirements, see the E118 course description.

The course contributes towards a qualification as a youth worker or youth support worker in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. People living in Scotland can take the course, but it does not yet count towards a qualification in Scotland.
