Centre for Professional Learning and Development

The Centre for Professional Learning and Development (CPLD) is the central focus for work-related professional development at The Open University. It is tasked with:

  • responding flexibly and quickly in developing products to meet the demands of corporate clients and professional associations
  • developing and extending the university’s CPD product portfolio, with a focus on learning that does not carry academic credit but can be part of an associated recognition framework.

Employee development

Working in partnership with you, CPLD can tailor programmes and courses for groups of your managers to develop the skills that your corporate objectives require. Blending high quality materials, personal tuition and work-based learning, we embed development directly into workplace practice. This form of customised management development usually proves far more cost-effective than sending staff away on short courses. To find out more, or arrange a visit from one of our Corporate Development Managers, explore this site or contact our Corporate Development Unit on +44(0)1908 655767.
