Getting a taste for OU study

To find out what people think of OU professional development, visit:

If you'd like to try out Open University course materials, there are plenty of examples to look at and test.

  • Interactive tasters and printed sample material. To whet your appetite, a number of OU courses offer examples of their content and the way it is delivered through online tasters or printed course samplers. Visit our Course tasters portal.
  • Interactive tasters for our flexible online CPD courses provide an extract from the course material; enable you to try an activity, and give an example of the work-based activity. Leaflets describing these flexible online courses are also available.
  • OpenLearn: FREE introductory courses. You'll find well over a hundred free OU study units on the OpenLearn website. This is course material only and does not let you enjoy the student support experience for which the OU is famous.
  • The OU on iTunes. The OU has over 300 videos on the iTunes Channel featuring household names such as broadcaster Sir David Attenborough and inventor James Dyson. Videos cover subjects from arts and history to science andnature, in bite-sized chunks of 2-3 minutes each. Register with iTunes (if you haven't already), go to the iTunes Store and search 'Open University'.
