PhD Studentship TESS-India

Text:

Full-time PhD Studentship (TESS-India project, Faculty of Education and Language Studies)

Centre for Research in Education and Educational Technology, The Open University

Based in Milton Keynes, UK

A studentship is available to research developments in International Teacher Education in India. The research challenge is to better understand how teachers and student teachers learn to teach in developing contexts, how they interact with Open Educational Resources and how contradictions between policy, college preparation and practice are traversed.

This studentship is associated with the TESS-India project – a collaborative project across seven States in India to develop teacher education resources to reach millions of teachers and to improve the education of many more millions of children.

The minimum entrance requirements are an upper second class honours degree or a Master’s degree, in Education or a related area.

The Open University is one of the UK’s leading research institutions. In the 2008 RAE over 50% of its research was rated as “world leading” or “internationally excellent”.

There is currently a vibrant international community of students studying our MRes and PhD programmes. The Open University provides excellent support for students and offers a full range of training in computer, library and presentation skills. Students are normally expected to live within commuting distance of Milton Keynes.
