Access Technology Loan Scheme

If you are not eligible for a DSA, the OU’s scheme may be able to provide free loan of various types of equipment to help with your studies.  We have hardware, software, training and ergonomic furniture.

For example, we may provide

  • synthetic speech output
  • text magnification software
  • wrist and arm rests
  • voice recognition software.

ATLS is a comprehensive scheme, provided by The Open University, for students who are not eligible for a DSA.  As well as equipment loan it can include student training and ongoing student support.

The process of applying for an equipment loan includes an assessment of the student's needs, so please apply as soon as you can.  You should contact your regional or national centre to discuss the scheme, and they can complete the application on your behalf.

If you are eligible for a Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA), The Open University will only provide study support that cannot be provided by a DSA. Take the DSA eligibility quiz to see if you are eligible.
