You can bring your own equipment to use during the residential school but it is important to tell the Disability Resources Team about the items before the school starts. Alternatively we may be able to loan equipment to you to use while you are at the school - the amount varies considerably depending on the site. Please contact the Disability Resources Team at least six weeks before your school starts.

- Folding lightweight wheelchair
- Aluminium wheelchair with an adjustable rear wheel, flip-up arms, quick-release foot plates and quick-release wheels, allowing it to be folded - maximum capacity 120 kg / 18.8 stone
- Scooter 4-wheel strider
- Scooter with a swivel seat with adjustable width and height armrests, front and rear bumpers with built-in lifting handle, lights, indicators and handbrake
- 0.9 metres / 3 ft roll-up ramp
- For use over small steps and door steps, will roll up for transporting and when unrolled the sides lock the ramp into straight position and form a bumper guide. Rippled non-slip surface, weight is 6.8 kg / 15 lbs
- Personal foldaway ramp
- Lightweight ramp complete with bag for storage on the handles of a wheelchair. Length is 0.71 metres / 28”, weight 4 kg / 9 lbs and will support up to 298 kg / 47 stone
- ISIS Medi Hoist
- Compact and highly durable, it offers manoeuvrability in domestic settings, with a range of minimum and maximum lift heights
- Porta Hoist 155
- General purpose hoist designed for heavy use. Foot-operated opening mechanism and emergency lowering feature. To be used with the large Porta Hoist sling which can hold weights of between 180 kg / 28 stone and 250 kg / 39 stone

- This style of chair follows your body’s natural contour adding support where you need it most - at the seat, below the knees and especially in the lumbar region
- Upright chairs
- This style is good while working with the hands close to the body and with eyes focused straight ahead, such as when sitting in front of a computer or at laboratory tables
- Camping chairs
- A lightweight and portable chair with pockets in the back for storing papers etc. Fold flat for easy storage and transport
- Adjustable back rest
- A comfortable back rest for support in bed or a chair, adjustable to a range of angles by a ratchet mechanism. Used to help people to sit and read in comfort. Made of fabric for easy cleaning, with maximum user weight of 127 kg / 20 stone

- Variette table
- Over-bed table with a stand which slides underneath the bed. Some are available with a tilting top
- Wheelchair strap
- Attaches to the sides of a wheelchair to prevent the user toppling when negotiating steps. Not suitable for transportation purposes

Hearing aids and communication
- Neck loop and conference microphone
- Contains a transmitter to pick up the speaker's voice and a receiver and neck loop that enable someone using a hearing aid to receive good quality sound. The conference microphone enables the device to be used in group situations, where it will increase the distance of useful sound pick up. Includes instructions

- Works just like a microphone but used in conjunction with neck loops

- Like a modified typewriter comprising six keys, and producing different letters of the alphabet and other Braille symbols
