Launching DAISY in The Open University

Following completion of the Digital Audio Project the official Launching DAISY at the Open University event took place at Walton Hall on 17 June. Hosted by Derek Child, Head of Equality and Diversity, speakers included Martin Bean, the Vice-Chancellor, Will Swann, the Director, Students, and Hiroshi Kawamura, the President of the DAISY Consortium. In addition, Anne Howells, Director for Learning and Teaching Solutions chaired a panel of experts for a Q&A discussion on studying and DAISY technology. There was also an opportunity for attendees to view technologies for reading DAISY books and samples of OU materials. Participants in this event were both internal and external colleagues most likely to be affected by or have an interest in the delivery of courses in DAISY digital talking book (DTB) format.
