Vice-Chancellor's visit to Disabled Student Services
Martin Bean, the new Vice-Chancellor at the Open University, visited Disabled Student Services in December 2009. Members of the project team were fortunate to be able to give a short presentation about DAISY DTBs during his visit.
Special Edition of Open Links Newsletter
Open University students who receive our annual newsletter from Disabled Student Services received a special edition in February 2010. Issue 53 of Open Links was an informal final report on the work of the Digital Audio Project. Copies of the newsletter are still available from Disabled Student Services and a digital copy should be available through the publications page of their website in the summer.
Conversion of OU DREAM and audio-cassette material
In early 2010 we converted all our audio cassette and DREAM / ReadOut recordings into DAISY DTBs. The converted audio cassette material will contain full audio and an on-screen navigation structure and the converted DREAM / ReadOut material will contain full audio, full on-screen text together with an on-screen navigation structure.
This will greatly improve the amount of course material available as DAISY DTBs for print-disabled students in 2010.
