The image below shows CLAMP leaf characters in 2D physiognomic space. The characters are arranged relative to one another based entirely on their occurence in the vegetation sites. Climate data have not been used. For clarity only some characters are labelled, those to do with size (Nanophyll to Mesophyll III). Note that the size characters are ordered roughly along the precipition vector. In 3D the size characters form a helix and not a simple linear pattern. This demonstrates that although the vectors are simple lines their calibration need not be uniform along their length.
