Masters In Education
The Masters Programme in Education offers a wide range of courses at postgraduate level, which can be studied singly or in combination to gain postgraduate certificate, diploma and masters awards.
The Masters Degree in Education is designed particularly for those with experience of teaching, professional development and training, the advisory service, educational administration, or an allied field. It is a modular degree, enabling you to select courses that best fit with your personal interests and professional goals. If you choose specific combinations of courses, you can gain a degree with a specialist designation, such as Master of Arts in Education/Master of Education (Applied Linguistics).
Successful completion of an OU Masters Degree in Education entitles you to apply for entry into the Doctorate in Education Programme.

- Equip you to identify issues and concerns in professional areas of interest to you and to design study plans or research strategies to help you deal with them
- Enable you to make a critical evaluation of academic literature
- Introduce you to research methodology and provide you with appropriate knowledge and skills to undertake research
- Enhance your professional knowledge and skills.

DCSF Funding for courses leading to Associate Membership of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA)
In his report of June 2009, Identifying and Teaching Children and Young People with Dyslexia and Literacy Difficulties, Sir Jim Rose recommended, inter alia, that DCSF should fund some teachers to undertake appropriate accredited specialist training in teaching children with dyslexia.
The Open University regrets that it is not able to offer fully funded places for eligible students for E801 Difficulties in Literacy Development for the academic year 2010-2011. However, we should stress that this well-established and highly regarded course is accredited by the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) and students who, on payment of the additional fee of £474, successfully complete the course and undertake additional work to fulfil the required criteria may apply to the BDA for associate membership (AMBDA). If you hold QTS and hold a post in a maintained school in England, you may be eligible for a TDA bursary to the value of £340 to contribute to the course fee. (See above for further information).
