Profile

In my role as Associate Dean Learning and Teaching I oversee the development of courses and aspects of  the student experience.  I am Senior Lecturer in Spanish and prior to been Associate Dean I was Head of Spanish. I was responsible for the development of the Spanish programme and was also Chair of two of its courses. I have extensive experience in the teaching of Spanish and English as a foreign language. I am secretary of the University Council of Modern Languages and a member of the Advisory Board of the Subject Centre for Languages, Linguistics and Area Studies.

Teaching Interests

Cecilia has had extensive teaching experience both in the UK and South America. As Head of Spanish at the Open University she was in charge of the development of the Spanish programme. The courses reflect Cecilia’s research interest in world languages and intercultural competence. In 2000 she became Associate Dean and in this role she has a watching brief over the development of the Education and Languages courses and awards and the implementation of the Faculty’s strategic and learning objectives, including the development and implementation of an e-learning strategy.

Research Interests

My main research interests are in the areas of curriculum design, intercultural competence and teacher education
