Profile

I was a nurse for 14 years and then went on to gain a BSc in Human Psychology and PhD, both from the University of Loughborough. I worked as a research fellow first at the University of Sussex then at the OU, where I am now a Lecturer.

Teaching Interests

I am part of the team developing a new 2nd level module - E219 - 'Becoming a person'. In this role I am developing learning materials for level 2 students on topics such as language and communication, technology in education and attachment in adolescence.

I am part of teams presenting both the postgraduate module ED841 - Understanding children's development and learning, and E807 - Children's and young people's worlds: frameworks for integrated practice.

Research Interests

I research the experiences of child researchers, and technology enhanced learning

Current Research

I lead three research projects:

Talk Factory (see http://www8.open.ac.uk/creet/main/TalkFactory)

Streets Ahead (see http://childrens-research-centre.open.ac.uk/streets-ahead.cfm)

MyShout! which is a new website to support child researchers
