Before coming to the Open University, I worked as a Modern Languages teacher at secondary aged level.  My first contact with the OU came as an Associate Lecturer on several courses within the Inclusive Education programme.  I was appointed as a Staff Tutor in 2005 and am currently seconded to the Centre for Childhood, Development and Learning as a Lecturer in Childhood and Youth.  I sit on the Editorial Board of the Ethnography and Education journal and am a member of the Third Culture Kid research network.  More recently I have been appointed as Research and Academic Adviser to the Service Children Support Network.
