I am currently chairing E101 'Learning through enquiry in primary schools', a module in the Foundation Degree in Primary Teaching and Learning. I co-authored the Level 2 module E207 'Subject knowledge and professional practice in primary schools'.
I contribute to the OU's International Development programmes. I am an author in the Teacher Education in Sub Saharan Africa (TESSA) projects: Suporting Women into Teaching in Malawi, a Pan Africa module on the teaching of early reading, and the Sierra Leone Girls Education Challenge (http://www.tessafrica.net ). I am leading the Elementary English strand of the TESS-India project ( http://www.open.ac.uk/about/open-educational-resources/oer-projects/tess-india ).
Before coming to the OU, I was Senior Lecturer in Primary English Education at Roehampton University. I was the research officer for Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE), and carried out resarch with Creative Partnerships, Wandsworth Ethnic Minority Achievement Service, King's College London Widening Participation programme, and National Association for Language Development in the Curriculum (NALDIC). I was a primary school teacher in Lambeth and Wandsworth.
In a previous career, I worked for 20 years as a radio and television journalist in San Francisco, New York and London.
