Profile

Pete is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Education at The Open University and is based in Milton Keynes. His main responsibilty is as Head of Qualification for the Masters in Education and during Autumn 2012 he is also joint acting Programme Director for Childhood, Youth and Education.

He works on a range of modules including those in curriculum, CPD and leadership and management. He is the PI on the TEMPUS-funded CEDFE project which seeks to explore how action research, CPD and practicum is developied in partner universities in Europe and the Middle East/North Africa. 

In 2012 he led the OU side of the co-production of films with the BBC

Until 2011 he was part of the Vital team, working on new ways of providing CPD in ICT. For three years (2009-11) he has been part of the ITTE team evaluating the TDA involvement in the BBC News School Report project. He is also a working member of the Computing at School association and is keen to develop the link between ICT ITE and Computing.

He was previously a Principal Lecturer and the School of Education's Standards and Quality Manager at Nottingham Trent University and led the Applied ICT PGCE strand. Prior to working at NTU, Pete was a member of staff at Ultralab (1998-2005), working on a range of e-learning projects including those with the NCSL Leadership Programmes, and was programme leader for the online cohort of the MA Education. Before this he was a teacher of ICT in secondary schools and colleges and an advisory teacher for Dorset LEA.

Pete completed a PhD in student perception of ICT and its assessment at 16 with Nottingham Trent University. A summary is hosted on by Mirandanet, of which he is a Fellow. His scholarly activity and research interests also include CPD, professional identity and the use of ICT and technology in learning.
