Tom is the co-director of the Digital Education Enhancement Project (www.open.ac.uk/deep), researching the potential of new technologies for teacher professional development and practice in the context of rural communities in the global south.

Throughout his time at the Open University, Tom has worked on a variety of innovative programmes for teacher professional development using ICT, including the Learning Schools Programme (2000 - 2003) and TeachandLearn.net (2003 - 2006), as well as TeachGlobal and DEEP.
