Driving change through energy training and development
The OU can play an important part in energy and utilities learning and development by highlighting how the user’s dimension and consumer behaviours are drivers for change. The energy and utilities sector has challenging training needs, and the OU can also assist in resolving issues related to the management of complex projects, working across boundaries and to the development of softer skills.
Nuclear skills
The Open University is working with the National Skills Academy for Nuclear to create a postgraduate Certificate in Nuclear Professionalism which combines our accredited engineering courses with employer generated provision.
The Water Industry
“Each day the UK water industry collects, treats and then supplies more than 17 billion litres of high quality water to domestic and commercial customers and then collects and treats over 16 billion litres of the resulting wastewaters, returning it safely to the environment.” Source: Water UK website.
Working with industry representatives and skills councils The Open University has developed a Foundation Degree in Analytical Sciences to support the professional development of those employed in sustaining these critical activities. The Analytical Sciences Foundation Degree is aimed at anyone working in an analytical laboratory including the Food, Pharmaceutical, Petrochemical, Water Industries, and also Forensics and Environmental Health.
