This was my life: I'm here to tell it

Kelley Johnson and Patrick (Sonny) Kearney

Patrick Kearney standing beside a lake with an old boat on the shoreline

Patrick Kearney told his story about growing up and living in Ireland to Kelley Johnson. She wrote it up and they agreed what should be in it together.

  • In his story Patrick talks about growing up in a small village in the country in Ireland.
  • He talks about the stories he was told by his grandmother.
  • He talks about what he did when he grew up and what his life is like now.
  • Ireland was very different to what it is now when Patrick was growing up.
  • People were poor in his village and many people left Ireland because there was no work.

Patrick's story gives a picture of what life was like for people years ago in Ireland.
