Days Gone By: The Histories of Day Centres for People with Learning Difficulties

Image showing the In Our Own Words exhibition, 2008

This Open University project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and ran from 2006 to 2008. As day centres closed in Croydon and as part of a country-wide initiative, this project recorded their history in this London borough. Involving people with learning disabilities who attended day centres as researchers, this oral history project developed an archive and exhibition ('In our own words'), as well as a project website.
