Working together for children is about improving the life chances of all children, reducing inequalities and helping them to achieve what they want out of life. At the heart of delivering this agenda is the need for children’s services to work in an integrated way, sharing information with a multi-agency approach to achieve the key outcomes.
Government policy implemented through Every Child Matters, Getting it right for every child, Children First, places obligations on the children’s workforce covering the whole spectrum of universal and specialist services that can make things better for children, including health, education and social services, play, early years care and family support. There is a clear need for skills to be developed within the children’s workforce to deliver this agenda and our courses are designed to help practitioners meet these challenges.
Our course Working together for children, supports the development of skilled, effective practitioners for an integrated children’s workforce, contributing to delivering these outcomes by providing the opportunity for practitioners working with children aged 0-12 to develop their knowledge and skills, and to transfer them into the workplace in settings such as play-work, early years, social work or social care, education and health care.
“Keeping experienced and committed staff in the system while they are training is cost-effective and brings immense benefits to both staff and the service.”
David Hawker, Director of Children’s Services, Brighton and Hove City Council
